All players are expected to conduct themselves with respect and courtesy towards their opponents. Displaying good sportsmanship is essential, whether in victory or defeat. Unsportsmanlike behavior such as gloating, rude comments, or any form of disrespect will not be tolerated.
Players must respect the rights and dignity of others at all times. This includes being mindful of noise levels, not disturbing ongoing games, and maintaining a clean and organized playing area. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of abusive behavior is strictly prohibited.
All games must be played according to the official rules set by FIDE and the Canadian Chess Federation. Cheating, including the use of external assistance or tampering with game equipment, is forbidden. Players are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the club organizers.
The time control for games will be decided by the club organizers and must be adhered to by all participants. Players are responsible for managing their time and ensuring that they complete their moves within the allotted time. Excessive delays or intentional time-wasting will result in penalties.
Players are expected to arrive on time for scheduled games. Late arrivals may result in time penalties or forfeiture of the game, depending on the discretion of the club organizers. If a player is unable to attend a scheduled match, they should inform the organizers as soon as possible.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in disciplinary actions, which includes but does not limit to: penalties, withdrawal, forfeit, or suspension from the club. The club organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action in response to any violations of these rules.
