Oceanside Chess Since the club's inception in 2019 we have grown by leaps and bounds.
Welcome to the Oceanside Chess Club! Based in the heart of Parksville, Vancouver Island, our club is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for everyone to learn, study, and enjoy the game of chess. We meet every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parksville Library in downtown Parkville. We would be delighted to have you join us for a day of games, learning, and fun.
The Oceanside Chess Club was founded in early 2019 by Len Molden, following the closure of the Bishops of Bowser chess club. The club continued to operate throughout the pandemic in what was a very challenging time for most chess clubs. As our numbers grew in the recess of the pandemic, it became apparent that we needed a larger, more permanent space. Eventually we found the perfect location in the basement of St. Mark’s Church, where we continue to grow today.
